Constructivism

What is Constructivism?

Picture
Learning is an ADAPTIVE activity.
Social interactions PLAY a role in learning.
EXPERIENCE and prior understanding play a ROLE in learning.
KNOWLEDGE is CONSTRUCTED by the learner.
LEARNING is situated in the context where it occurs.
CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING is:
HANDS-ON
WONDERMENT
EXPLORATION
DISCOVERY
MEANINGFUL
USEFUL
MOVEMENT
and NECESSARY.

Picture
LEARNING takes place through the STIMULATION of a child's ideas and helping to reflect upon them according to the theory of CONSTRUCTIVISM. The child is the ACTIVE creator of their own knowledge. Constructivism encourages children to LEARN new ideas. Constructivism also encourages children to use their own experiences in which they can create their own mental models.

LEARNING is FUN

Picture
CHILDREN interpret information from their unique personal perspective of their previous experience. With constructivism, children may learn through observation, participation and interpretation of their own views of the environment in which they are in.

With the CONSTRUCTIVIST THEORY, the child takes an active role in CONSTRUCTING his own understanding rather then receiving the understanding from a teacher, caregiver, etc.

LEARNING is EXCITING

PLAYING = LEARNING

Constructive Kinder

Welcome to Constructive Kinder by Loorducation
Picture Constructive Kinder is focused on a hands on learning approach in Kindergarten. Constructivism is a perspective in the field of education that is based upon experimental learning.Children learn by playing and exploring, therefore they need to be in a learning environment that promotes play, movement and hands on learning. Following a curriculum that is based on constructivism allows children to explore, discover and be active participants in the learning process.

Play is fun but it is also a child's work, it is what they do- PLAY. When children play, they learn early math and language and develop skills for academic success. When a child is playing with blocks, he or she is counting, predicting, calculating and measuring, all which are skills required for mathematics. When a child is playing house, he or she is developing social emotional skills that help them build their character.

Children are not meant to be sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Doing so causes boredom and day dreaming. Children have the need to be active.Being active promotes learning. By having a curriculum that is constructive based, children will be able to learn by being hands on with tools. Children will learn by exploring their classroom. They will also learn by doing. Children will learn by tinkering and getting messy using play dough, paints, flubber, moon sand and other  sensory items. All the while children are actually learning how to count, write, spell, listen and learn. Yes, learn. Children who are active inside the classroom are learning how to solve problems and be creative, which are two qualities that are needed to be successful individuals.

Namaste

My Boy: Part 85

Jorge Juan was in a great, energetic mood today. I am exhausted but he was super happy and that made me happy. His energy was non stop. He helped out cooking, putting groceries away and he even ate all of his dinner – by himself. I am so proud of that. After each and every spoon, literally, he told me that was the best food he has ever eaten. Every time I wash his hair, which, by the way he loves now; he tells me that I am the best mom ever. I love him so much and I do not know what I would do without him. He is such a blessing.
appl
He had a good time at karate class, although he was dancing in line. He loves music just like Daddy. What matters is that he was happy. He is healthy and I am so grateful for that. Days like this, autism seems like a great blessing in disguise. It really does. I am one blessed mommy. I do not like labels but being that my son is high functioning is inspiring, to me and to many others. Like I always say, it has not always been that way. A lot of patience, love, hope, prayers and faith went into it among time but the biggest one of all is knowing that my son will succeed, with unwavering FAITH. I am here to say, do not give up. Now, I would never want a cure for my son’s autism but that is just me and our autism journey. Every journey is unique and I can understand parents who desire a cure for autism because of the severity of it. I can not relate but I can understand them wanting to have a cure for their child, I get it. Autism is a wide spectrum but we are all in this together.

That flew by. I have completed my Masters in Education Course.
As my final thesis/Capstone Project, I have created a website to show my work. I have developed curriculum for early math and one for early literacy, for Pre K and / or Kindergarten. I have put them up on my site. I put a lot of time into my project but it was all done for the love of education and with a deep passion.Besides this website and curricula that I have developed, I also had to write a report on the process, only about 25 pages : ) As well each curriculum was between 11-13 pages. Yes, I put much effort and time into this. I wanted to feel like I have truly earned my Masters in Education Degree.Put Love in, get love out.
Enjoy!!!
My website is
http://www.constructivekinder.weebly.com
I hope you check it out. Please let me know what you think. There is a contact form on my site. i look forward to hearing from you and I am very excited to showcase my work. All photos are original and owned/edited by me. I take pride in what I do.
